Setting up spam filtering with Netscape Mail 6/7

Go to the tools menu, and select the 'message filters' option. A new window will open up. Press the 'New' button on the window that has opened. Another window will open up.

In the 'filter name' box, enter 'SPAM'. Press the box that says 'subject', and select the 'customize' option from the list that appears.

In the new window that opens up, enter 'X-Spam-Flag' in the 'New Message Header' box, and press the 'Add' button, then press the 'OK' button to close that window.

You will be taken back to the last window. Press on the 'subject' box again, and select the 'X-Spam-Flag' option from the list that appears. Then, in the text box at the righ, enter the word 'YES'.

Now press the 'New Folder' button in the window. A new window will appear. Enter the word 'SPAM' into the 'name' box.

Then press the 'click here to select' box, and hover you mouse pointer over your mail account folder which should be listed. Press the 'choose this for parent' option in the sub-menui that appears.

Press 'OK' on the 'filter rules' window, then press 'OK' on the below message filters window. You can now continue to use your email as usual, with a new folder called 'SPAM' in your folder listing where 'possible spam' messages will be filtered into.
